SynthProf was established by Andrew Jury in the 2000s, even though his first experience with a synthesiser was a long time before that in his early teenage years. Always a fixer rather than a player, Andy returned to his first love of electronic instrument repairs via a career in avionics and computing and is now one of the first names out of the hat when a reputable tech is needed.

We take in all sorts – synths, drum machines, tape echoes, compressors, pedals – and the majority is pre 1990 though increasingly we’re being asked to help with new gear that fails one minute out of warranty. There isn’t much we haven’t seen, so all the major brands plus the majority of the Russian copies and curiosities like the Crumars. Basically, if it it makes a noise and has a plug, we can help.

As well as good relationships with the likes of Kenton, Echofix and CHD, we’re also partnering with PCB manufacturers and 3D printers to overcome the odd obsolescent part issue that would otherwise stop play.

Finally, we can fix up woodwork and even build you new cases, working with our professional cabinet maker and furniture restorer Steve Norman.

Based in west Suffolk, we do like to encourage clients to bring their gear into us in person, though we are happy to take courier deliveries if flight cases or sturdy packaging is used. We do prefer test and collection in person though, for obvious reasons – and with reasonable notice we can make ourselves available evenings and weekends if daytime collection is tricky.
